As the sacred cantata was at the heart of Baroque music, we open the 2018-19 concert series with a program of sacred cantatas by Bach, Buxtehude, Scarlatti, Charpentier, and more. Featured will be our very special countertenor Nicholas Garza in Bach’s solo Cantata #54 and in Heinrich Bach’s Ach, dass ich Wassers g’nug hatte. Also featured is Bach’s glorious Cantata #78, Jesu, der du meine Seele and Domenico Scarlatti’s amazing Stabat Mater for 10 solo voices.

Celebrate the season with music for Advent and Christmas from the Baroque period, including the works of Bach andother German composers, and their Italian and French colleagues. Come enjoy Bach’s truly elaborate and moving second version of the cantata “Nun komm der Heiden Heiland” (Cantata #62). Caroling in German will once again follow the concert.

Paul Leenhouts, Recorders
